Why is Spray Foam Right for the Construction Industry?

← Back to List
What role do you play in the construction industry?  Are you a general contractor, builder, or insulator?  These are just a few of the trades that recognize the effectiveness of spray foam insulation.  It works as the right application for a variety of reasons.

Let’s take it a step further.  Spray foam application is a cost-effective means of getting the job done right the first time.  It helps contractors easily meet with or exceed local and state code regulations.  It also reduces the amount of time it takes to finish construction projects.  In some cases, spray foam insulation may actually afford tax incentives in some areas of the country.

How the Construction Industry Uses Spray Foam

One of the biggest challenges in the construction industry is compliance with building codes.  There is a tremendous push to find energy efficient solutions in any new infrastructure.  That’s one of the major advantages of spray foam insulation.

It’s not just the insulation features that make spray foam a good solution for building projects.   The proper application creates an air barrier that seals the building like an envelope.   Most building energy codes emphasize the need to control air leakage. According to building regulations, all new dwellings will be tested for air tightness to make sure no CO2 gasses are emitted into the air. But since spray foam insulation creates an air tight seal, you won't have to worry about this regulation. In addition, spray foam helps to protect against the elements, including the wind, heat, water and frigid temperatures.

Spray foam insulation is also an excellent method of reaching awkward crevices and sealing cracks.  The application is more adaptable than other types of insulation installation.

We mentioned a few examples of trades that could make use of a spray foam solution such as the one offered by Marvel Coatings.  Other uses within the construction business include:

  • Builders: Insulate building interiors, including walls and windows

  • Roofers: Spray foam used to build or insulate roofs

  • HVAC Contractors: Insulate and air seal ducts

  • Plumbers: Spray foam around pipes to prevent them from freezing and bursting
